The very rare 1927 silent drama The Monkey Talks directed by Raoul Walsh. It stars Olive Borden, Jacques Lerner, and Don Alvarado. This is an unrestored version of the film and there are problems with the picture and sound.

A Rare Find
The Monkey Talks has always been a very hard silent film to find. It hasn't been released on video or DVD and it's never been shown on television. A couple of museums have pristine prints but they rarely show them. Although this is a rough, unrestored print I'm still thrilled to finally see this film. Olive Borden is one of my favorite silent screen stars!

Strange circus movie
I am glad to see this film in the archives- It tells the story of a Little Person who dresses up as a talking chimp to be near the woman he loves. The make up was by Jack Pierce who created the make up for Universal's Frankenstein, The Wolf Man and the Mummy movies.
This is not a perfect print- We are lucky to have a print at all this is from the only known print- It goes from too dark to too bright- This print seem to have been projected to a wall and recorded from that- Still worth seeing.
